When I was choosing the best quality air hose for this article, it was a draw between Dewalt’s this particular model and Flexzilla HFZ3850YW2 3/8″ Hybrid Air Hose (reviewed below). The only reason why I prefer this over Flexilla is that it can withstand a lot more abuse. It also has a bright yellow color that is easy to spot in low lighting conditions. Otherwise, both models are pretty much the same.

It can handle temperatures from freezing -40 to blistering 150 degrees Fahrenheit without showing any signs of kinking. With a max PSI of 300 and featuring 4:1 burst pressure, this model is very durable and safe. Moreover, its quarter-inch fittings are entirely made of brass, which is highly rust-resistant.

It’s the only drawback is heavier weight. But, in a way, weight is also its advantage because it can bear a lot more abuse. Overall, although it is pricey as compared to other products on my list, considering its durability and value for money, you won’t find a better quality air compressor hose in the market today.

As I mentioned earlier in my first review, this is another fantastic air hose. There’s a reason why this is Amazon’s number 1 bestseller. The hybrid polymer is lighter than rubber by almost 50 percent. That is why this hose is so lightweight. Its second advantage over the previously mentioned model is due to its hybrid polymer material, it works reasonably well in tighter workspaces.

Though it’s lime green color is quite noticeable, but not as much as yellow-colored Dewalt alternative. It works like a charm in temperatures ranging from -40 to 140F. Moreover, like Dewalt, it has a max PSI of 300 and features 4:1 burst pressure.

A noticeable difference is its anodized aircraft-grade aluminum made end fittings. Flexilla claims to be more rust-resistant. However, in my experience, I didn’t notice any noticeable difference. All in all, due to the flexibility, maneuverability and lightweight, thisFlexzilla is a worthwhile purchase – especially if you live in colder climates.

That said, I didn’t like its green color initially and felt like green accumulates more dirt. However, considering the value it provides at an affordable cost, this is a great purchase.

Alright! Enough of expensive models, lets take a look at some affordable options in the market. This one, in particular, is very budget-friendly. Made of Polyurethane material, it is known for holding its shape under diverse weather conditions, though it curls up a little bit. But the good thing is, you don’t have to drag around a cumbersome hose.

Weighing just 1 pound, you can take it anywhere to you like without any hassle.
The fittings are robust, and it stays flexible under temperatures ranging from -30 to 150F on land or underwater. In addition, it can withstand 300 PSI pressure, and its abrasion resistant and non-marring surface won’t damage any wood flooring, laminates, or painted areas in and around the workplace.

Even though the manufacturers allow it for commercial and industrial facilities, I will not recommend it as such. The reason being, industrial applications need much more durability.

If you are dead set on getting the cheapest option available out there, this is your guy. But keep in mind that only rubber provides the best quality. For such an inexpensive model, though, you only get reinforced PVC. It is somewhat rigid in comparison and not as flexible either. So get ready for agonizing days ahead, trying to wind and unwind it effortlessly.

Nevertheless, 300 Max PSI under 0 to 130F temperatures is enough for heavy-duty pneumatic appliances. Besides, the air hose does have brass 1/4″ NPT male fittings and non-marring oil resistant cover. It is also very lightweight. – thus easy to maneuver in tight places.

That said, I wouldn’t recommend it for freezing temperatures. However, with a cost under 10 bucks, including the shipping expenses, this is not a bad bargain at all for everyday usage and DIY projects in and around your house.

The second Good Year air hose on my list is an upgrade over the first. But obviously, it costs a little bit more. But the extra cash is totally worth what you can save in aggravation later. Right?

So what’s the primary difference, and why am I even including it in my list? Well, there are three main differences. First, it has a much more durable construction and won’t accumulate dirt like the previous model. Second, its yellow color is easily spottable. And third, it comes with a 10 years manufacturer’s warranty. So you are covered from damages for a decade. Sounds great!

All in all, this best compressor hose is built to last. Whether it’s a DIY project or you need an air hose for commercial or industrial applications, I will strongly recommend Good Year for its high quality and lasting performance.

Two significant features of this model are 1/4″ MNPT swivel end fittings to avoid hose twisting and bend restrictors to prevent kinks. Thus these features enhance its overall durability. What’s more, the package includes a Teflon tape that helps you seal everything for tighter connections.

Both PVC and Rubber air hoses have their drawbacks. While PVC made hoses become rigid in cold weather, rubber is slightly heavy. Thankfully WYNNsky 3/8″ Hybrid (as the name suggests) is made of a blended construction of PVC and rubber. Thus combining the best features of both materials and reducing the drawbacks. It is lighter than rubber hoses and even more flexible than PVC.

This nylon braided air hose is a very good contender in the market due to its affordable price, less weight, sturdy construction, and durability.

However, it is for use on mini compressors. Additionally, you also need an adapter from your compressor to connect to the airbrush. It has both female fittings on each end – unlike the other models mentioned in my reviews. The smaller length is ideal when the compressor needs to be placed in a small area while airbrushing.

With standard 1/8 inches fittings on both ends, it is compatible with many popular brands like Devilbiss, Fits Iwata, and of course, Master Airbrush. But make sure you read the label before purchasing it as some people complain that it isn’t compatible with their applications.

Purchasing a perfect air hose with enough flexibility, strength, materials, and bending can be a daunting experience. This is because the market is brimming with so many models, each with different specifications, not to mention each claiming to be the perfect solution. Therefore to help you with your purchase, I have put together a brief discussion about the features you should keep in mind before entering the hardware store. Read on!


Air hoses can be divided into four types on the basis of the material they are made of. These include:

Rubber: Most widely used material, rubber, is abrasion-free and can withstand extreme weather conditions. It is also somewhat heavy. Another advantage is that rubber air hoses are readily available in hardware stores in different sizes e.g., ¼ 3/8 and ½ inches. Most industrial applications use rubber air hoses.

Polyurethane: Compared to rubber hoses, they are less flexible but more durable. However, a standard polyurethane air hose will kink easily. Therefore, I only recommend using recoiled polyurethane hoses, though they may get pricier. Besides, they are rather lighter than rubber and more economical too. 

PVC: PVC hoses aren’t as pliable as others. But that’s the only disadvantage. Otherwise, they remain one of the most in-demand hoses in the market. The reason being, they perform exceptionally well in scorching hot weather. They are also lightest in comparison, which is why people who are lugging their airline hose around the workplace like it. 

Hybrid: As I already discussed in a review, hybrid hoses have the best of both worlds. They’re a blend of rubber and PVC. Such tubes are more flexible and durable than both rubber and polyurethane ones. They work well for general purposes but are not generally recommended for industrial uses. The reason being, their weather performance is poor even though they are UV resistant. 

Nylon: Nylon is the priciest of the five. Their recoiled form is the most durable among all. But any extended use leads to kinking. They are also an economical option if you are on a tight budget. 

Size, length, and diameter

The size of a standard air hose is 10 or 15 meters. However, you can increase the size using connectors and couplers. Keep in mind that the size, diameter, and length of a hose depend on the purpose you are using it for. Every unit increase in length decreases the pressure. So if you don’t care about air pressure and will be moving around the workspace a lot, then you should buy a longer hose. Otherwise, a shorter hose will keep the pressure intact and get the job done in no time.  


Let’s admit it. No one likes having a hose snaking around the garage. But storing one can become problematic – especially if you are low on space. Some hoses won’t just roll up into a nice package, no matter how hard you try. Now, there are two solutions to this problem. First, you can buy a hose hanger that rolls it up nicely and keeps the floor tidy. Second, you can buy a self-coiling hose that coils itself back up after you are done using it. For hassle free workings, I will recommend a self-coiling hose if your budget can afford it. 


The best air hoses usually come with the right accessories. If not, you should always select high-quality full flow fitting that significantly mitigates air losses. Secure and reliable fittings ensure both efficiency and safety. In most of the hose models I reviewed above, the fittings are made of brass, which performs exceptionally well against rust. To further secure the fittings, you can also utilize Teflon tape on both ends.
